Storm Isha latest: hall opens as warm space during power cut

Update at 1.45pm: Power has now been restored and the burgh hall has closed.

Cove Burgh Hall and St Modan’s Church in Rosneath have been opened to provide a warm, safe space for everyone in Cove and Kilcreggan who is without power during Storm Isha.

There was a power cut across the peninsula during high winds last night but SP Energy Networks restored supplies to some areas.

Power in other areas may not be restored until 10pm however.

A spokesperson for the burgh hall said: “As well as warmth, the hall can provide power points for charging devices, as well as kitchen facilities for making hot drinks and heating up food – bring along your own food and drinks, please, and we can supply the facilities, including cups, dishes and cutlery if required.

“Please let anyone without internet or transport know and offer information and lifts to those who may require it.

“There’s no need to let us know you’re coming along – just pitch up and you’ll find the building open.”

No trains are running in Scotland today and Kilcreggan ferry sailings have been cancelled, but buses are running albeit with some delays.

High winds are due to continue until tomorrow morning and heavy rain is forecast for most of Tuesday.
