New grants and support for Argyll and Bute businesses

A £450,000 package of new funding measures and specialist help to support Argyll and Bute businesses has been announced.

A combination of business grants and free expert advice will deliver support over two years for local businesses, funded by the UK Government under the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Coordinated by the council’s business gateway team, grants and specialist help includes:

  • Small business development grant of up to £5,000
  • Business start-up grant of up to £500
  • Trade fair, training or accreditation grant of up to £1,000
  • Fully-funded expert help – between half a day and two days of support from a subject specialist
  • Intensive support programme focused on exploiting business opportunities and building resilience

Liz McCabe, the council’s policy lead, islands and business development, said: “Everyone is fully aware of the many challenges our communities and business sectors are currently facing.

“Local businesses are a hugely important lifeline for our communities, not just for the services and products they deliver but for the vital jobs they create and for the wider contribution they make to the health of Argyll and Bute’s economy.

“Whether you’re a new business just starting out or if you are already established, the range of grants and free specialist support offers the opportunity, to further develop your company.”
