Drop-in event to help plan future of health services

People are being invited to have their say on health services in the Helensburgh area at an event next month.

Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) launched its joint strategic plan for 2022 to 2025 last year.

And the authority is holding a drop-in event in Helensburgh, with officials saying they want t know how they are doing, what is working well and whether things could be done differently.

Chief officer Fiona Davies said: “These conversations with the people of Argyll and Bute are so important and will greatly assist us in the planning and development of services over the coming months and years.

“We are also keen to find out how we are doing one year in from the launch of our strategic plan and whether the public feel we are keeping to our objectives and priorities outlined in the plan.

“We know that there are lots of challenges in delivering health and social care services in a remote and rural setting such as Argyll and Bute but at the same time this provides opportunities for us to use technology, where appropriate, and increase our local community-based practices.

“We have a real opportunity to share and spread and learn and develop the way we deliver services, preparing us for the future.”

The HSCP describes its plan as ‘aspirational and ambitious’ – it has four key tenets:

  • Prevention, early intervention and enablement
  • Choice, control and innovation
  • Living well and active citizenship
  • Community co-production (working with communities to produce local community services)
  • A drop-in event will be held in Helensburgh Civic Centre’s annex 1, on Thursday April 27 from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

There is also an online anonymous which everyone within Argyll and Bute is welcome to complete.
