Licence bid for Helensburgh bottle shop

A planned new bottle shop in Helensburgh town centre is set to have its licensing plans heard by councillors.

The new shop is due to open at 14 Sinclair Street, in the premises formerly occupied by Stewart Travel, which has moved into the former Clarks shoe shop.

A brief report states that occasional paid tasting sessions are planned for the shop. The name on the application is The Wee Bottle Shop Ltd, based at a residential Dumbarton address.

On-sales are planned for 11am to 10pm, with off-sales being from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week in each case.

The Argyll and Bute Licensing Board will consider the application for a license at the board’s virtual meeting on Tuesday.

No issues have been raised by either environmental health or police.

A brief statement by a licensing standards official said: “[This is] An application for a provisional premises licence for an off-sales licence to sell primarily craft beers and fine wines.

“The premises may occasionally host paid tasting sessions. Such sessions would be infrequent and would be wholly ancillary to the primary use of the premises.

“Children and young persons would be allowed entry to the premises with a responsible adult during the exercise of the premises off sales facility. Children and young persons would not be permitted to the paid tastings.”
