Community events for Christmas under way in Rosneath

Santa’s workshops and a snowman parade are just a couple of the events is being organised for children in Rosneath during the run-up to Christmas.

Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, Autumn Brown has organised an impressive series of festive activities, culminating in a sing-along on Christmas Eve.

And she is appealing for “Santa’s Helpers” – volunteers of any age to help brighten up the village with decorations which children have been making in workshops this month.

Anyone who can help is asked to go to 4, Ferry Road in Rosneath, at any time from 10am onwards on November 29.

The free workshops are being held outside but under cover at the same address, with decorations being made this month and Christmas cards and plaques in December.

For a list of available dates and slots text or phone Autumn on 0773 328 4443.

Snowman parade

Crafts fayres are being held from 11am to 4pm every Saturday at Ferry Road, with handmade crafts and gifts from local artisans.

There will also be a post box in Ferry Road where children can send their letters to Santa between December 1 and 13 – and a reply from Santa himself is promised!

Autumn has also sourced 30 large fabric snowmen who need to be decorated for a snowman parade.

“I’m looking for creative adults with a good sense of humour!” she said.

“Whether you wish to dress them up as a cartoon character, someone famous or something humorous,  I will leave it up to your imagination, though no political statements or any- thing x-rated please!”

The snowmen will be available to collect from November 23-30, limited to one per adult or family.

They will all be displayed in December on the village green, which will also feature Santa’s sleigh where children can have their photograph taken, under adult supervision.

Peninsula Presents is looking for new or second-hand presents for all the children on the Rosneath Peninsula!

“If you are having a clear-out before Christmas and have any unwanted toys, games etc in good condition then please donate them,” said Autumn

“If you don’t have children and would like to buy a gift instead, then please visit the Needle and Anchor who have a great selection of toys.”

All items can be handed in from December 1-18 at Ferry Road, Rosneath, (anytime) or to Joy Holmes at Tigh-Na-Mara, Shore Road, Kilcreggan, G84 0HH (any day after 5pm)

Everything shall then be displayed at 4 Ferry Road on December 20 for adults to pick up gifts for their children.

Finally at 6pm on Christmas Eve there will be a socially distanced sing-along, with everyone welcome and song sheets available on the village green.
