Opening date for Helensburgh Morrisons revealed

Helensburgh’s new Morrisons supermarket will open on December 3, the company revealed today.

Work has been underway to refit the store on Cardross Road for some weeks, while more than 150 staff have been appointed.

This week store manager Scot Byers met Hermitage Academy headteacher Robert Williamson, giving him a sneak preview of the new store.

And the team of bakers fired up their ovens for the first time, donating the produce to local care homes.

The store’s community champion Alison Sturgeon said: “They created some fantastic home baking which I then had the pleasure of donating to local care homes.

“The staff and residents from the Argyle Care Centre, Northwood House, Morar Lodge and Lochside all received a huge hamper of fresh bread, cakes and pastries.

“We were thrilled with the pictures that they sent us, showing their residents enjoying a luxury afternoon tea.

“The best part of the job of a Morrisons community champion is being able to facilitate such a rewarding experience.

“We very much look forward to welcoming everyone into our new store in December.”

As well as a petrol station, the new store will include a garden centre, café and clothing department.
