News in Brief: Arrochar housing plan, Helensburgh Christmas fair

Plans for 13 new houses beside Loch Long in Arrochar have been revealed.

Self-build housing plots are planned on the former Cobblers Rest caravan park site, behind the Village Inn.

A planning application submitted to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority states that there is a known risk of flooding at the site, but a specialist report by a civil engineer argues that this can be addressed by higher floor levels in some of the houses.

Full details are available on the park authority website – the reference number is 2019/0299/PPP.

A Christmas Fair is being held in Lomond School’s sports hall in Helensburgh this Friday (November 29).

The school choir will be performing, and as well as the chance to meet Santa there will be gift stalls, games, a climbing wall and a rowing challenge.

Entry costs £5 which gives visitors five tokens to use on school stalls – anyone wearing something Christmassy will get a free token.

A Christmas café will serve hot chocolate, tea, coffee, mulled wine and prosecco, as well as soup, hotdogs and home baking.
