Cyclists can catch a bus to explore Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park

B1 Bike Bus

A new way for cyclists to enjoy Scotland’s first national park has been introduced – taking a bus.

On the 21-mile stretch between Balloch and Ardgartan a new bike bus with space for 16 passengers and up to 12 bicycles is being operated by Wilsons of Rhu.

It’s being run on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, using funding provided by Transport Scotland’s Bus Investment Fund.

The bike bus can be used in conjunction with other services operating in and around the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

The council’s policy lead for strategic and local transportation, Councillor Alistair MacDougall, said: “Cycling is becoming an increasingly popular activity for families, individuals and organisations, and is enjoyed by all ages.

“With the introduction of the bike bus, we are giving cyclists a helping hand to make the most of the great outdoors that Argyll and Bute offers in such abundance.”

The B1 Balloch service will make four return journeys daily from Balloch, taking in Luss and Arrochar before arriving at Ardgartan. The bus will connect with trains at Balloch and Arrochar.

The 16-seat mini coach and bike trailer will operate seven days a week from July until October.
