A83 to close overnight for tree felling

Tree felling will see the A83 closed overnight near Inveraray this month.

Trees affected by ash dieback disease are being removed from beside the trunk road between Inveraray and Achadunan by contractors BEAR Scotland

The work will start tonight and run between 7pm and 6am each night until Saturday May 4.

The road will be closed during this time, with hourly amnesties from 8pm to 5am, using a convoy system and a speed limit of 10mph.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north west representative, said: “Unfortunately, ash dieback disease has affected many ash trees in Scotland.

“After reviewing the ash trees along the A83, we’ve identified several with this disease and are arranging for their removal. It’s crucial for safety to have traffic management measures in place while we do this.

“We know this will cause disruption and have scheduled the work for night-time when traffic is lighter to minimise impact.

“The work may lead to a slight increase in noise, and we apologise for any inconvenience.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of road users and the local community.”
