Helensburgh in Motion project launched

A new project – Helensburgh in Motion – has been launched to make walking and cycling easier in the town.

Argyll and Bute Council is asking residents, organisations and businesses how they currently move around Helensburgh and what improvements they would like.

The aim is to gather views on how to make it easier and safer for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle to destinations in the town, including schools and community facilities.

A public consultation is open until February 29 and available

Following feedback from residents and interest groups, the council aims to produce options and concept designs to expand existing active travel routes.

Workshops are also taking place in local schools and there will be a drop-in event on Saturday February 24 at the market in Colquhoun Square when you can meet the design team and say what would make a difference to you.

The council’s policy lead for roads and infrastructure Andrew Kain said: “As we work together to reduce emissions and create a climate friendly Argyll and Bute, we want to create as many opportunities as possible to use the car less, where possible.

“Part of our ambition to expand active travel networks across the area, is to hear from you about what improvements you would like to see in and around Helensburgh.

“Your feedback will help shape future plans as we look to make it easier to walk, wheel and cycle to destinations around the town.”
