Floods close main roads as Storm Jocelyn nears

The main road through Kilcreggan has again been closed by flooding, with another route virtually impassable.

And the A814 near Faslane is also badly hit by flooding, with buses diverting via the A817 Haul Road through Glen Fruin.

School buses are leaving Hermitage Academy early, at 3pm, and diverting via the Haul Road.

One bus will take pupils as far as Kilcreggan pier, and another will go as far as Cove Burgh Hall from the Coulport direction.

With Storm Jocelyn due to bring high winds overnight, rain today saw the B833 Shore Road closed by rubble which had poured down Tigh Dearg Road, where a large-scale flood improvement project is currently under way.

Drivers trying to use School Road as a diversion route once again found that a drain cover had been blown into the air by pressure from a blocked drain, with deep floodwater pouring down the road.

The 316 bus to Coulport is again terminating at Kilcreggan pier.

All train services from Helensburgh are cancelled today and tomorrow, with yellow warnings for wind and rain in place – gusts of up to 56mph are forecast for tonight.
