Kilcreggan road junction ‘dangerous for children’

Action has been called for at a dangerous road junction in Kilcreggan.

A resident told last week’s meeting of Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council that the junction of School Road (above) and Shore Road was dangerous because of the amount of traffic, especially at the start and finish of the school day.

He said a mirror should be installed to help visibility, and was supported by community council secretary Sheelagh O’Reilly.

“There is much more traffic, it has got much busier,” she said.

“It would be a safety issue you’ve got buses, people walking with their children in that area.

“It’s becoming quite an issue at that junction, it’s quite dangerous.”

She said that as well as a mirror a bollard should be installed to stop drivers cutting the corner and going onto the pavement when turning left at the bottom of School Road.

“Somebody is going to swipe a child in a buggy soon,” she added.

Argyll and Bute councillor Mark Irvine said he would take up the issue with roads officials.
