Cove and Kilcreggan 10k to become annual event

The first Cove and Kilcreggan 10K was hailed as a great success – and it’s set to become an annual event.

Organisers said the feedback had been ‘really positive’ after the event on a spectacular sunny day, and thanked the 50 local volunteers who helped out as marshals or in Cove Burgh Hall.

Winner Michael Miller led from the start and his impressive time of 38.27 saw him well clear of the field.

Keith Hood from Corstorphine AAC was the first over-50 finisher and local fitness instructor Caroline Drew was the first female finisher, with Fergal Kelly the first male local, while the first under-21 finishers were Arthur Mortlock and Cara Schmautz.

As well as the runners dozens of people walked the route, with the first walker home being Patrick O’Toole from Fairfield Gardens, pictured holding his prize – a Tut Tut rock painted by William Higgins.
