New harvest festivals planned for Cove and Garelochhead

A ‘peninsula burger’ will make its debut at a new harvest festival event this month.

Cove Park arts centre is organising events in Garelochhead and Cove as part of its dandelion initiative, which has seen ‘unexpected gardens’ appear in both villages.

The September 10 events and food are free of charge and will feature food by culinary designer Rudy Kanhye.

There will also be a chance to experience and take part in new work by unexpected gardens artist Hannah Brackston and musician in residence Siôn Parkinson.

Siôn will perform Harvest Hymns 21C, a new work commissioned by Cove Park – ‘a celebration of the end of the growing season, of food, drink and the drunken revelry that often follows’.

There will be drop-in workshops suitable for all ages, along with a plant swap and garden games designed by Hannah Brackston.

Rudy Kanhye has been working to create a range of seasonal tasters inspired by the peninsula.

He will make a fire-cooked lunch at Centre 81  and dinner at Cove Sailing Club, making the new Peninsula Burger, designed with local ingredients from the Rosneath Peninsula.

It will be accompanied by a lemony summer salad from the garden. Vegan and gluten-free options will be available.

The Garelochhead event will run from 11am to 2pm, and in Cove it will be from 4pm to 8pm.

Tickets are available via Eventbrite.
