Classic cars draw crowds to Cove

The festival of cars at Cove Burgh Hall was a great success today, with blue skies drawing owners of historic and more recent classics to the Rosneath Peninsula.

More than 40 lovingly maintained cars including Ferraris, Minis, Land Rovers and a taxi cab drove from Helensburgh along the B833 to Cove for the event.

This was the third time it had been held, and it drew more cars than ever.

And dozens of people took the opportunity to have a look at the classics up close and chat to the owners, many of them members of the Scottish Western Thoroughbred Vehicle Club.

The new owners of the former Craigrownie Church Hall kindly allowed most of the cars to park on the grass in front of their building.

Tomorrow there will be a doors open day in the burgh hall, with user groups and members of the board on hand to tell you more about how to get involved.

From 2-4pm locals will have the chance to find out more about clubs and societies which regularly use the community-owned hall, and maybe even have a go at some of the activities on offer.

All the doors in the building will be open, with demonstrations and presentations by by groups including the Peninsula Choir, SWI Cove and Kilcreggan, table tennis, line dancing, yoga, art, first responders and Scottish country dancing.
