The Porch Gallery in Kilcreggan is open for its Spring Colours exhibition until May 8 and will be auctioning various donated items for charity.
Held in the porch and dining room of Templeton Cottage on School Road, the pop-up is run by Fiona Holland and this is the gallery’s fourth show.
This time The Porch will be raising money for the RNLI, as well as both Blue Cross and the Humane Society International, to help Ukraine refugees care for the pets they took with the when they were forced to leave their homes.
The show brings together a great selection of artists and makers from across Scotland – many from our very talented local area.
And this week a painting is being auctioned for the charities.
Fisherman’s Cottage from Afar, Fife, has been generously donated by Kilcreggan artist Fiona Kilgore.
It is watercolour and line in a simple and elegant white frame. The image size is 25x25cm.
The Scottish summer blue sky and the golden fields of ripening grains were painted last year, long before the conflict in Ukraine began – the bright colours echo the country’s flag and it’s such a fitting image of hope.
Bids can be made via the gallery Facebook page, and bidding closes at 4.30pm on Thursday.
Gallery opening hours are Wednesday and Thursday 12 noon to 4.30pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12 noon to 5.30pm and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Visitors are welcome and there is original work to suit any budget, from £5 upwards.
Artists on show include Euan McGregor PAI, Heather Nevay RGI, Joyce Borland, Maeve Dixon, Mary-Jane Selwood, Erica Paterson, Simon Lawrence and Sarah Carrington. There are finely worked wooden items from Maggie Irving, Sarah-Jane Selwood and The Whisky Chairmen, as well as sparkling jewellery from Caitlin Hegney, Iona Lundie, Helen Reid-Foster and Val O’Regan.
Ceramics by Nigel Reid-Foster and Molly Bradshaw, sculpture by Richard Reeve and Lesley Carruthers, textiles from Rosie Loves Bruce, local cards and prints by Carol Anne Calder and loads more.
