2022 council election candidates in their own words: Helensburgh & Lomond South ward

The Helensburgh and Lomond South ward includes part of Helensburgh itself, as well as Cardross, coastline alongside the Clyde and a section of Loch Lomondside.

The ward has three councillors, and in 2017, David Kinniburgh (Conservative), Ellen Morton (Liberal Democrat) and Richard Trail (SNP) were elected.

Following the death of Ellen Morton, a by-election last year was won by Gemma Penfold, who with fellow Conservative David Kinniburgh will be trying to retain her seat.

Richard Trail is standing down from the council, and the SNP’s new candidate is Math Campbell-Sturgess.

They will be competing against Liberal Democrat Paul Kennedy and the Green party’s Howard Green.

Here are the candidates for 2022, in their own words.

Gemma Penfold and Paul Kennedy have not yet provided any information; this will be updated if they do so.
