Kilcreggan antiques expert Roo Irvine will be testing another branch of her knowledge on TV this weekend – on Celebrity Mastermind.
Roo, who regularly features on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, will be sitting in the big black chair to answer questions on pedigree cat breeds.
A keen animal lover, Roo raised £4,400 for Ukraine animal charities this month via a ten-hour hula hoop marathon.
On Mastermind she will be competing against former footballer Pat Nevin, TV personality Tom Malone Jr and actress Anna Nightingale.
Roo said her agent has asked last year if there were any quiz shows she wouldn’t do.
“I said I love them all – but I’ve always been terrified of Mastermind as child!
“The black chair, the spotlights, the dramatic music… so I said no Mastermind!
“She contacted me a few weeks later to ask if I could do Mastermind at the end of September 2021 – I realised I had to bite the bullet and face my fears, it is so iconic, how on earth could I say no!
“It was one of the most memorable TV experiences to date, partly for being blessed to take part in it, but also the butterflies that were having a party in my tummy.
“Everyone was amazing- Hat Trick Productions, the crew, Clive Myrie – I loved the day, but was also so glad when I heard the words ‘It’s a wrap’!”
The episode will be screened on BBC1 tomorrow night (Saturday) at 6.30pm.
