Glen Fruin traffic lights will go in August, says council

Temporary traffic lights on the Haul Road through Glen Fruin are now due to be removed in August – eight months after being installed.

Argyll and Bute Council had previously said that bridge repairs on the A817 would be complete in June, but with the lights still in place a spokesperson this week gave a new date.

“The parapet on the A817 at Finlas Water Bridge was damaged by a vehicle in December 2020,” she said.

“At the time the council put traffic management in place to make the road and structure safe. This will remain until the parapet can be replaced.

“Contractors have been appointed to supply and install a replacement barrier.

“As the road needs a higher specification that normal, the fabricator is having to modify designs to accommodate the bridge and the road layout.

“Work is underway and expected to complete by the end of August 2021.”
