End in sight for Haul Road traffic lights in Glen Fruin

Temporary traffic lights which have been in place for six months are due to be removed soon.

The lights on the A817 Haul Road through Glen Fruin, near to its junction with the A82, appeared before Christmas and have frequently broken down in recent weeks.

But today Argyll and Bute Council said the roadworks were due to be completed soon.

“The parapet on A817-090 Finlas Water Bridge was damaged by a vehicle in December 2020,” said a spokesperson.

“At the time, we put traffic management in place to make the road and structure safe. This will remain until the parapet can be replaced.

“We appointed a contractor in January 2021 to supply and install a replacement vehicle restraint system (barrier).

“This is a bespoke design as this particular road needs a higher specification than normal.

“Work is now underway and we expect it to be complete this month.”
