Harvest Moon in Clynder goes on the market

The Harvest Moon deli in Clynder has been put on the market.

Owners Zoe and Hugh Strong took over the business in 2018 and had established it as a daytime cafe and evening restaurant before Covid-19 restrictions took effect last year.

Currently they’re running a takeaway service at weekends, but they have both had to take on other work – Zoe returning to the law and Hugh starting his own business working with young people.

“We’ve prided ourselves on cooking everything from fresh and using as much local produce as possible,” said Zoe.

“As with any new business, it was hard work and long hours but pre-Covid we had established a successful business with customers coming to us from all over Argyll and Bute, as well as a dedicated local following.

“We have taken the very difficult decision to sell because during the pandemic, like many others, our business has been significantly affected.”

The couple plan to stay in the village and hope that someone local will take the business on – previously a village shop and post office, the premises had been empty until Harvest Moon opened.

The business and freehold are now for sale with an asking price of £150,000, with fixtures and fittings included.

It is fully licensed for an and off-sales and ready to reopen fully when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted – send a message via the Facebook page if you are interested.

Zoe added: “During the pandemic, the business has had to diversify and so we have been running a busy takeaway and delivery service every Friday and Saturday night since last year, so we’ve proven that there is a significant demand for both a cafe/restaurant and a takeaway business in the area.

“We’re sure that over the next year the business will continue to grow and succeed and we feel that now is the right time to pass the baton on to someone new, ready for the summer season.

“Since opening we’ve received fantastic support from the locals, for which we’re really grateful.

“We know that the new owners will receive the same support and are excited to see how the business develops in the future.”
