Medical centre plea to patients over Covid vaccines

Over 1,300 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 at Kilcreggan Medical Centre so far – but a new appeal has been issued to patients.

The practice says that 1,418 patients had had their first dose of the vaccine, 1,301 of them in the surgery itself – and 340 last Saturday alone.

But staff say they have ‘hit a brick wall’ because for some patients they either don’t have a phone number at all, or the number is out of date.

“We have written to a number of patients to ask for contact details with little effect,” said a statement on the medical centre’s Facebook page.

“So please, if you are registered at Kilcreggan surgery, are aged over 18 and would like to give yourself and others protection against this awful disease, call reception on 01436 842156 with an up- to-date contact number.”

Staff are currently not allowed to vaccinate most patients aged 18 to 49, but their contact details are still needed.

Latest figures from Public Health Scotland show that 54.5% of people in Argyll and Bute have had their first dose of the vaccine, the highest proportion of any mainland local authority area.

  1. Disheartening to see the Lochsidepress following the mainstream and suppressing any view that deviates from the script. Vaccine uptake is only 5% in France compared to app 50ish% in this country (allegedly), perhaps their media is less adverse to real debate on issues and the population are encouraged to make informed decisions based on evidence for and against important issues. None of the vaccine companies make a secret of the fact that their trials will not be complete until at least 2023 which is still a significant shortcut on normal standards, it negligent at best to support this so blindly. Well done lochside press for more poor quality reporting!

    • Exactly whose view is being suppressed here? We reported a statement from the local medical practice. And by the way, ‘averse’ isbn; t spelt that way.
