Rest and Be Thankful traffic diverted via Loch Lomond

The single-track alternative route at the Rest and Be Thankful has been closed this morning because of ‘movement of debris and boulders’ on the hillside.

Contractors BEAR Scotland say geotechnical inspections are under way and further information about the Old Military Road  will be made available when possible.

The A83 itself has been closed since a landslide on August 4, and there is no indication of when this will reopen.

With the Old Military Road closed, all traffic heading up the west coast of Scotland is being diverted via the A82, with long queues already building up as holiday makers travel up Loch Lomondside.
