Sexual assault investigation halted

Police have halted an investigation into an alleged serious sexual assault in Helensburgh town centre.

On Sunday Police Scotland appealed for witnesses following a report that a 22 year-old woman had been attacked in the East King Street area.

But today the following statement was issued: “We received a report of a serious sexual assault in Helensburgh on Saturday August 15.

“Initial enquiries were carried out, however following an update to the investigation team, we can confirm we are no longer carrying out enquiries.”
