Roads hit by flooding in heavy rain

Heavy rain has caused problems across the Helensburgh area today – and forecasters say there is more to come.

The A814 near Faslane naval base was closed by flooding, with traffic diverted via the A817 Haul Road through Glen Fruin.

Drain covers were lifted by flood water in Kilcreggan

And at 3.10pm the A82 at the Dunglass roundabout near Bowling was just passable – but delays were estimated at 55 minutes.

The MoD road to Coulport and B833 Shore Road on the Rosneath Peninsula are both badly affected by flooding but currently passable with care.

All ScotRail trains from Helensburgh Central have also been cancelled because of flooding, while CalMac warned that the Kilcreggan to Gourock ferry service was liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.

A Met Office yellow warning of rain is in place until midnight, with up to 60mm of rain predicted, and as much as 100mm on higher ground.
