RNLI afternoon tea raised a record total

Cove Burgh Hall was packed on Saturday for a classic afternoon tea in aid of the RNLI.

It was the first time that the annual event organised by the lifeboat charity’s Cove and Kilcreggan branch, and organisers said the move to a bigger venue was a great success.

Despite very dreich weather a total of £683.35 was raised – the best ever.

The raffle alone made over £220, proving so popular that the stock of tickets ran out – but Kilcreggan Post Office saved the day by opening specially,

There was a fantastic array of tasty treats and two young clarsach players generously gave up their Saturday afternoon to entertain everyone – 12-year-old Kezia Conran and Jessica Noble (17).

The charity’s next local event will be the annual summer flower show.
