Christmas and New Year bin collection dates confirmed

Updated bin collection schedules for Christmas and New Year have been announced by Argyll and Bute Council.

And the authority has also issued guidance about whether wrapping paper can be recycled.

A spokesperson said: “Many types of Christmas paper and cards can be recycled.

“Unfortunately anything covered in glitter or foil-based paper cannot be recycled.

“If you want to check if the paper is foil, scrunch the paper up. If it springs back, then please put it in the rubbish bin.

“Christmas trees can be taken to our household waste and recycling centres for recycling.”

The Blackhill recycling and civic amenity site in Helensburgh will be closed on the public holidays – Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New year’s Day and January 2.
