Cove Sailing Club holds community meeting

A community meeting is being held by Cove Sailing Club as it plans to expand the range of water sports on offer.

The club beside Loch Long won planning permission for a new clubhouse last year and now it is asking the public for their views about facilities and activities which should be on offer.

Traditionally the club has seen competitive racing of wooden Loch Long boats, as well as dinghies for cadets.

Everyone will be welcome at the meeting in Cove Burgh Hall on Saturday September 29, and in advance a survey has been made available – it is available online here, and also at the Co-op in Rosneath, Kilcreggan Post Office, the Creggans Inn and Eureka and the Perch Café in Garelochhead.

A spokesperson for the club said: “Cove Sailing Club has a long history, with a strong focus on racing Loch Long sailboats, but we want to do even more.

“We are actively fundraising to build a new clubhouse and broaden our watersports offering for our local community.

“Our intention is to build on our rich Loch Long history and include other classes of water craft, and some additional water-based adventures.

“We invite you to come along for an informal chat about what you would to see the club offer and to share with you some information gathered in our community survey.”

The meeting will be held from 10am to 2pm, with coffee and home baking available.
