Section of Helensburgh street closed by dangerous building

A section of East Clyde Street in Helensburgh been closed to traffic and pedestrians in both directions.
The stretch between Sinclair Street and Maitland Street was sealed off by Argyll and Bute Council ‘due to concerns over the condition of a vacant building’.
A council statement said: “The closure will be in place with immediate effect and will remain for the foreseeable future.
“This decision has been taken to ensure that members of the public are kept safe while we work to reach a solution.
“Diversions will be in place. Please note that access to businesses on this stretch of East Clyde Street will be available from the Maitland Street end. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Busy streets in the town centre have been closed because of dangerous buildings several times in recent years, most recently last autumn when West Clyde Street was closed off.
