Ardoch housing plan gets the go-ahead

Plans for housing near Cardross have been approved at the fourth attempt, despite hundreds of people objecting.

Five homes would be built at the site in Ardoch after a special hearing last week by Argyll and Bute Council’s planning, protective services and licensing committee.

Councillors at the local hearing in the Geilston Hall, Cardross, backed planning officials’ recommendation to approve the proposal, subject to conditions.

In the last 27 years three applications for housing at The Paddock, Ardoch Estate, have been rejected – in two cases after appeals.

But the proposal by James Black was said to be in line with council’s policies, despite concerns by Cardross Community Council over safety on the A814, a high pressure gas pipeline, a flood plain and the loss of wildlife and habitat.

As well as the community council, 33 people lodged objections and more than 300 signed a petition against the plan.
