Argyll and Bute Council has apologised after bins for glass recycling were not collected on the Rosneath Peninsula this week.
The grey bins were due to be collected on Monday in parts of Kilcreggan, as well as blue bins for recycling and green bins for general waste.
But residents were left confused as the grey bins remained on pavements, with no sign of them being emptied even the following day despite the colour-coded schedules distributed earlier this year.
Today (Thursday) a council spokesperson said: “We apologise for the disruption to glass collections, these will now take place next week.
“We advise residents to leave their bins out and they will be emptied as soon as practicable.
“We have introduced the new refuse and recycling service to 47,000 properties including 12,000 properties in Helensburgh and Lomond alone.
“This has been a big change for our communities and we would like to thank people for their patience and for working with us to help increase recycling.”
Bin collection days will change due to public holidays over the next two weeks, meaning bins will be collected a day later over Christmas and New Year.
For example the Monday December 26 collection will now be on Tuesday the 27th December. Those on a Friday collection will have their bins emptied on the Saturday.
The civic amenity site at Blackhill in Helensburgh will be closed on December 25 and 26, as well as January 1 and 2.
Once the Council realised they could not achieve the glass collections on the days they stated why did they not inform residents through all the various media.
