Rescue team looks for support in funding bid

Mountain rescue volunteers are appealing for help in their bid for funds to help improve their base.

Lomond Mountain Rescue Team aims to earn between £10,000 and £25,000 from the Aviva Community Fund, – it has 1,000 votes so far in the UK-wide project which promises to support over 800 groups to the tune of

Covering an area of 1,000 square miles including parts of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the team has 34 volunteers and is available for all search rescue operations, whatever the weather.

Its base at Drymen (pictured) needs weatherproofing work as well as heating and insulation improvement and changes internally to improve training facilities.

A spokesperson said: “Please spare a few minutes of your time to vote and support your local rescue team.

“The team post is the heart of operations. As a wholly volunteer operation available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide help for those in wild places, the post provides storage for team equipment, training facilities and a headquarters for team activities.”
