New plans to turn a spectacular building designed by world famous architect William Leiper into 12 flats and three houses have been submitted.

Most recently a private nursing home, Morar Lodge would be converted sub-divided and partly demolished if the plans are approved by Argyll and Bute Council.

Developers Playfair Properties say large parts of the building are infested with rot – it is category A listed, meaning it is of international importance.

Details of the plans are on the council’s website – the reference number is 16/00438/PP.

The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat was one of five charities given a funding boost by the UK government this week.

Crewed by volunteers, the service will receive £7,340 to help fund training and new equipment.

Police Scotland say a 26 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug dealing in West Argyle Street, Helensburgh, on Wednesday (February 17).
