Helicopters in search for missing woman

Police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a ‘vulnerable’ 45 year-old woman who went missing in the Helensburgh area earlier today (Friday).Karen Harvey

Karen Harvey (pictured) was last seen at around 6am on East Clyde Street at the junction with Station Road, Helensburgh, and heading in the direction of Hermitage Academy towards Cardross.

Police and Royal Navy helicopters joined the search, as well as Helensburgh’s lifeboat.

She is described as white, slim built and around 5 ft. 4 in height. She has blonde hair with brown roots showing and has a tanned complexion.

She was last seen wearing a light coloured top, light grey cardigan, green tracksuit bottoms and visible fluorescent pink neon socks.

Inspector Coleen Wylie, of Dumbarton Police Office, is leading the inquiry.

She said: “It is unlike Karen not to be in contact and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

“If you think you have seen her in the area or have any information that can assist us please contact us on 101.

“Officers, including the force helicopter, are currently searching for Karen in the Helensburgh area, checking CCTV and contacting people who know her to try and trace Karen safe and well.”

Anyone with information as to her whereabouts is asked to contact Dumbarton Police Office via the 101 number.
