Meeting planned to stem Kilcreggan flood problems

Progress has been made in solving flood problems which have hit homes in Kilcreggan, a meeting heard tonight (Tuesday)Tigh Dearg

Last month Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council heard it would cost up to £700,000 to tackle the issue in Tigh Dearg Road – and there was no funding for the work.

Complaints date back four years, and frustrated residents said the floodwater could be several feet deep, while heavy rain also brought a tide of rubble which meant they couldn’t get out of their driveways.

But Argyll and Bute Councillor Maurice Corry said tonight that Jim Smith, the authority’s head of roads and amenity services, had a meeting booked with Scottish Water to talk about three matters, one of which is Tigh Dearg.

“The weight of the council should push this forward , It is very clear that that pipe needs to be replaced,” he said.
