Signs requested to help tackle speeding drivers in Cove

New signs are being called for in an attempt to control speeding motorists in Cove.

Drivers often ignore the 30mph limit in some parts of the village, Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council heard on Tuesday night.

Graham Barr said that an additional sign in the area near Linn Gardens and the Clevedon would help, and chairman Nick Davies said he would write to Argyll and Bute Council requesting this.

Christine Murdoch said police had asked the community council to supply licence plate details of drivers who frequently broke the limit.

The meeting also included the community council’s AGM – Mr Davies was re-elected as chairman, with Mr Barr continuing as vice-chair and Sheena Edwards as treasurer.

Murdo MacDonald is standing down from the community council, so his post of secretary will be taken on by Fiona Howard, in addition to her existing role of minutes secretary.

  1. How are the council members able to give licence plate details to police of cars they think are speeding, surely it is the Police job to monitor this and record speeding drivers not a council member who thinks someone “may” have broken the speed limit
