Marshals appeal for 2nd Cove and Kilcreggan 10k

Organisers of the second Cove and Kilcreggan 10k are looking for help with the event on Sunday June 9.

More than 130 competitors took part in the inaugural event last year and a small army of marshals kept them going.

The appeal is out for 2024’s volunteers to help on the route and at Cove Burgh Hall, which is the start and finish area, with about 50 people needed

The race will be compered by River City actress Joyce Falconer and start times are 11am for kids’ fun run, 11.30am for 10k walk and 12 noon for the 10k run.

Over 170 people have already registered for the run, with 250 places available.

Last year’s varied and challenging route will be used again – it is mixed terrain, starting on the flat along road and pavement then turning up onto a forestry track which is undulating dirt track with lovely scenery.

The forestry track will be a little challenging as it has a slow incline but after the 5km point then it’s a satisfying downhill run on the track then pavement all the way back to the hall.

The run is for 16 year-olds and upwards and the walk is for eight year-olds and above.

Under-12s need to be accompanied by a paying adult.

Entry for the run is £22.50 for an adult or £20.50 for Scottish Athletic Members and the walk is also £22.50 for adults or £5 for children who are up for the challenge.

More information and entry details are available at entry central.
