Community council in Helensburgh set for by-election

A by-election is to be held to decide who will fill two vacant places on Helensburgh Community Council.

But new members will be appointed in uncontested elections elsewhere, with the number of candidates not exceeding the number of places.

In Helensburgh a postal ballot will decide who of Louise Eleanor McCormack-Fisher, William Purdon and Grant Simon Vella will fill the two vacancies on the town’s community council.

Electors will be sent Postal Ballot Papers which need to be returned by 4pm on Thursday May 2.

Six members – some of whom had previously been co-opted – have been appointed to Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council: Kenneth Barlas, Katherine Helen Gostick, Sheena Lamont, Lynda Mackenzie, Ellen Janet McVey and Anne Denise Strachan.

And there will be eight new members of Rhu and Shandon Community Council: Fiona Baker, Nicholas Barton, Arnold Bretman, David Alexander Lang, Allan David MacFadyen, Calum McNicol, Robert Stuart and David Whitham.
