Inspectors have given high marks to Arrochar Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) class after a visit in January.
They praised teachers for creating a ‘warm, nurturing and inclusive ethos’, as well as high quality learning and play experience, particularly outdoors.
And a report by HM Inspector Lisa Marie McDonnell gave a rating of ‘very good’ in all four criteria:
- Learning, teaching and assessment (primary school)
- Raising attainment and achievement (primary school)
- Learning, teaching and assessment (nursery class)
- Securing children’s progress (nursery class)
It also praised children’s progress and attainment in literacy, numeracy and wellbeing, saying they successfully applied skill and knowledge in a wide range of contexts.
There was only one area for improvement – the report said staff should continue to review and refine approaches to planning and assessment, supporting children to set and reflect on individual targets.
Ms McDonnell added: “We are confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.”
