Helensburgh choir’s boost for RNLI

The results of Helensburgh Oratorio Choir’s 60th anniversary concert in Glasgow last month raised £700 for the Helensburgh RNLI team.

Following the performance of Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony, Alicia Tindal, chairman of the choir, presented a cheque to the RNLI’s Penny French, saying, “Our choir is so pleased to be able to make this donation to our local lifeboat, particularly as our concert this year was about ships and the sea, and it’s the RNLI’s 200th anniversary.”

The cheque was made to the RNLI before the choir’s rehearsal last week.

The choir, meanwhile, is already practising for its next concert.

This will be on Saturday  May 11 and back in their usual venue of Helensburgh Parish Church.

The event will be “Choral Favourites” and free, with a retiring collection for a charity.

Alicia said: “We’ve had a fantastic golden jubilee year and are now looking forward to our next performance.

“We are always looking for new members and the next concert has some great music, so please do get in touch,”
