New defibrillator at Arrochar and Tarbet station

A new lifesaving defibrillator has been installed at Arrochar and Tarbet Station.

The scenic stop on the West Highland Line was one of the first to receive a new HeartShine SAM 500P defib, as part of a ScotRail roll-out programme of 40 stations across the country which began in December last year.

The device is accessible 24/7 and adds to defibs available locally in Arrochar at the Three Villages Hall and the Tarbet Hotel.

A little further up the A82, Crianlarich is also part of the latest scheme.

ScotRail safety, engineering and sustainability director David Lister said: “ScotRail recognises that, in an emergency, a defibrillator can make the difference between life and death, and we continue to install this life-saving equipment at stations across the network.

“We’re delighted to be supporting communities on the rural West Highland Line, with Arrochar and Tarbert, Crianlarich and Bridge of Orchy stations all receiving new defibrillators.”

At the south end of Loch Lomond, Balloch Station is also part of the rollout project – it too is 24/7 accessible.

These 40 new defibs will bring ScotRail’s total to 87.
