Classic paintings of the Clyde on sale next month

Paintings of the Clyde and Glengoil are included in the latest sale organised by Edinburgh auctioneers Lyon and Turnbull.

The Art Edit will be live online at 10am on February 13, with viewing available at the auction house beforehand.

The Clyde, by Archibald Kay R.S.A., R.S.W. (1860-1935) has an estimate of £400 to £600.

Oil on board, it is 24cm x 35.5cm (9.5in x 14in).

Glengoil, by James M. Robert Greenlees (1820-1894), has the same estimate and is oil on canvas, 75cm x 100cm (29.5in x 39.5in).

John Milne Donald (1819-1866) painted frequently in the area including Loch Lomond, Helensburgh and Cowal.

A Lochside Croft has an estimate of £500 to £800 and is oil on canvas, 36cm x 53cm (14.25in x 21in).

There are two watercolours by Sir William Russell Flint P.R.A., P.R.W.S., R.S.W., R.O.I., R.E. (1880-1969), who lived in Helensburgh from 19819 while serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.

Looking Over To Bute From Above Corrie, Arran, has an estimate of £700 to £900 and is 24.5cm x 33cm (9.75in x 13in).

Etna From The Greek Theatre – 1913 has an estimate of £800 to £1,200 and is 21cm x 27cm (8.25in x 10.5in).

James Kay R.S.A., R.S.W. (1858-1942) lived in Portincaple. Honfleur Flower Market has an estimate of £400 to £600. Watercolour with bodycolour on brown paper, it is 23cm x 31cm (9in x 12.25in).

There are two paintings by Patrick Downie R.S.W (1871-1945), who was from Greenock.

With an estimate of £400 to £600, Rock Pooling – 1911 is a watercolour and 35cm x 53.5cm (13.75in x 21.25in).

A Schooner In A Breeze – 1928 is gouache and pencil and 24.5cm x 25cm (9.75in x 10in), with an estimate of £300 to £500.
