Businesses in and around Helensburgh are gearing up for a special festive shopping weekend on December 2 and 3.
Many ships will be open with several having exclusive offers, while festive events in the town will include the artisan craft market and Santa’s Submarine Experience at the Submarine Centre.
Mrs Claus will be holding court at the Hill House and Andre Riéu’s White Christmas is screening at The Tower cinema.
The Porch Gallery Festive Show is on in Kilcreggan, Helensburgh Orchestral Society has a concert on Saturday at the Victoria Halls, and on Sunday evening Helensburgh Oratorio Choir will be performing Handel’s Messiah at Helensburgh Parish Church.
A recent meeting of the Helensburgh Business Group decided to hold this special Fabulous Festive Shopping event to promote shopping local this Christmas.
The Business Group is hosted by Helensburgh Community Council and is open to all retailers, restaurants and local businesses.
Fiona Baker of Destination Helensburgh said: “Helensburgh is fortunate to have many fantastic independent shops, you really can find everything you need in Helensburgh and it is a great place to do your Christmas shopping.
“We have superb Christmas lights thanks to Helensburgh Festive Lighting Trust and a wonderful Winter Festival organised by volunteers.
“The Festive Shopping Weekend bridges the gap between these two big events and contributes to the concept of ‘Helensburgh The Christmas Town’.”
Destination Helensburgh is undertaking social media advertising and promotion targeting the day trip market.
Fiona said: “Our recent promotion of the fireworks organised by the Round Table reached over 30,000 people, with similar interest in the lights switch on – we are hopeful a concerted campaign will attract visitors from across the west and central belt to the town over the weekend, and also for the Winter Festival.”
Destination Helensburgh is currently preparing a map of the town centre highlighting tourism, shopping and eating options for visitors.
This will be free and produced in both paper and digital formats.
