Harpist Pippa’s concert raises £1,000 for charity

A packed concert by harpist Pippa Reid-Foster in Helensburgh on Saturday night raised £1,000 for charities.

The event in the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre featured an eclectic programme including Pippa’s own compositions and work by modern composers including Ludovico Enaudi and Philip Glass.

Then after the interval there was a ‘jukebox’, with the audience paying to nominate modern songs to be played by Pip – the most popular choice was Sweet Child of Mine by Guns n Roses.

Afterwards Pippa said: “I am totally overwhelmed with the support everyone gave on the night – the amazing donations from local businesses, friends and family.

“I wanted it to be a fun, interactive evening and this definitely is what I achieved.

“Everyone went home buzzing, including me. We had a great time!”

With  the jukebox bids, a raffle and an auction – where the prize was a private concert by Pippa in your home – the event raised £400 for the Beatson Cancer Charity  and £600 for the Marfan Association.

Marfan Syndrome claimed the life of Pippa’s older sister Eilidh, who was also a gifted harpist, when she was just 17.

Pippa, who lives in Helensburgh and grew up in Cove and Kilcreggan, is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland,

She has released one solo album – Driftwood Harp – and is working on a second which is due to be released next year.

Videos from the concert will be uploaded online int he coming weeks via Pippa’s Instagram page.
