Cove and Kilcreggan gearing up for real ale festival

Final preparations are being made for the 20th Cove and Kilcreggan Real Ale Festival, which takes place on Saturday.

Always one of the highlights of the calendar on the Rosneath Peninsula, the popular event raises funds for its venue, the community-run Cove Burgh Hall.

The full list of ales and ciders for the event, which starts at 12 noon on Saturday the 23rd has now been made available – and for the first time it includes two Scottish ciders.

Main sponsors No Limits Brewing from Dumbarton will have a range of their own ales, while the Creggans will be supplying a cask of ale, from Loch Lomond brewery.

Subject to one or two potential last minute substitutions, the other ales are:

  • Arran Red Squirrel (Arran brewery) 3.9%
  • Baby Faced Assassin (Roosters) 6.1%
  • Brewers Gold (Pictish) 3.8%
  • Goldihops (Kelburn) 3.8%
  • Hurricane Jack (Fyne Ales) 4.4%
  • Lancaster Red (Lancaster) 4.8%
  • Lost in Mosaic (Loch Lomond Ales) 5%
  • Old Smithy Porter (Settle) 4.7%
  • Pen y Ghent Bitter (Three Peaks ) 3.8%
  • Pendle Witches Brew (Moorhouses) 5.1%
  • Postlethwaite (Coach House ) 4.6%
  • Rampart (Conwy) 4.5%
  • Yorkshire Blonde (Ossett) 3.9%

Ciders will include Scottish producer Cairn 0’Mohr’s Rhubarb and Meadowsweet (both 5%), and Whisky Cask (6.7%), Thistly Cross.

From England there will be Kent Cider’s Toffee Apple (5%), Mango (5.5%), Gala (6.5%) and Russet (8%) and Thatcher’s Stan’s Big Apple (5%) and Cheddar Valley (6%).

Music will again feature Ryan, Joe Quinn and Burnt Orange, and admission is £10 which includes two tokens, a glass and a programme.

Tokens cost £2 and one pint costs two tokens.
