Kilcreggan GP says he is leaving ‘with sadness’

Health care on the Rosneath Peninsula has been dealt a new blow with another GP’s departure.

Dr Oliver Corbett has been the only salaried GP at Kilcreggan Medical Practice since Dr Donal Murray left in August last year.

But now Dr Corbett has also announced that he will leave in October, in a message which praised the surgery team and asked the public to treat them with respect and kindness.

Dr Corbett started in Kilcreggan in May 2021, working 2.5 days a week.

Initially he was employed by Dr Murray, then by NHS Highland when it took over the practice last year.

He said he was leaving ‘with sadness’.

“It has been a privilege to serve the community in my role as general practitioner, and I thank all those who have provided kind words and support throughout what has been a challenging period of time,” he added.

“There will continue to be multiple challenges throughout the NHS moving forward but the team here work spectacularly hard (both administrative and medical team members) including behind the scenes with additional requirements that are integral to the running of the surgery service that many people will be unaware of, in order to try and deliver the best service possible within the confines of the resources available.

“I would ask that this continue to be remembered, please, when speaking or interacting with any surgery team members, who continue to do all they can to help. Please continue to treat the team with respect and kindness.

“My best wishes are with everyone for your health and wellbeing for the future.”
