‘Get involved’ plea for Cove and Kilcreggan project

Everyone in Cove and Kilcreggan has been urged to get involved in the ‘Our Community’ project.

A public survey and two workshops have already been held , with a community meeting scheduled for next month.

Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council and Rosneath Peninsula West Community Development Trust, with £170,000 funding from CEIS, aim to draw up a masterplan for the future of the villages and commissioned SKS Scotland to organise public engagement as the first part of this.

Euan Wright, co-ordinator of the Our Community management group, the group wanted as many people as possible to go to the event on Saturday September 9 from 11am in Cove Burgh Hall.

“Please come along, see what we’re doing and join a group – everyone is welcome,” he said..

“There are so many good ideas, so much expertise, skills and creative energy in these villages.

“Let’s work together to ensure everyone has their needs met, now and in the future, to keep and enhance this wonderful place we call home!”

Two main areas have been identified as being of particular importance:

  • Kilcreggan bay – aiming to integrate, connect and combine sports, businesses, parking, the bay, the pier, footpaths and heritage to make this area a thriving community hub and gateway.
  • Environment – respecting, celebrating and protecting the coastline and land, building local food production, generating energy and providing intelligent waste treatment.

Anyone interested in joining a working group should email ourcommunity@coveandkilcreggan.org.uk .
