Signs of concern over Rosneath Peninsula speeding

New stickers are set to appear in Cove and Kilcreggan in an attempt to slow down motorists.

Residents have been complaining for several years that drivers ignore the 30mph limits in residential parts of the villages.

And now Police Scotland has supplied 120 stickers to Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council.

They remind drivers that if there are street lights then the speed limit is 30mph unless otherwise stated, while the risk of death is four times higher if a pedestrian is hit at 40mph rather than 30.

Secretary Sheelagh O’Reilly said the notices could be put on wheelie bins or any other location which is owned by the householder in a 30mph limit – though not the 20’s plenty section near Kilcreggan Primary School.

They cannot be attached to lampposts or bus stops.

Previously residents have complained about speeding in Argyll Road – often during the school run – and Shore Road.

A total of 120 of the stickers are available and they can be requested via the community council website.
