Holiday lodges planned for Glen Fruin

Two new holiday lodges are planned for a site in the national park near Helensburgh.

Alison Muir has submitted a planning application to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority for land at Crosskeys Cottage, Glen Fruin.

A supporting statement says there has been a self-catering tourist accommodation business on the site for several years, with three properties available to rent.

“The proposal is a modest expansion of the holiday letting potential by constructing two small single-storey chalets in a secluded area of the site to the west,” it adds.

“The new chalets will provide additional short stay tourist accommodation in the Loch Lomond area, increasing tourist spend, supporting additional local employment to service the properties.

“They are modern high quality units, attractive to an increasingly discerning holiday visitor, with excellent energy efficiency relative to the type of accommodation offered.

“The chalets are to be situated within an existing woodland setting and backdrop distinct and separate from the existing accommodation.”

The reference number for the Glen Fruin plan is 2023/0256/DET .
