A body was found in Cove yesterday as police searched for missing man George Winters.
The 48-year-old has been missing from his home Dalry, Ayrshire, since last Sunday evening.
He was believed to have then travelled to Greenock and parked his car there but had not been seen since.
Police have now said a body was recovered during their search fin Shore Road, Cove, yesterday, however formal identification has yet to take place.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Saturday July 8, the body of a man was recovered from the shoreline near Helensburgh.
“He is still to be formally identified, but the family of George Winters, missing from Dalry, Ayrshire, since Sunday July 2, has been informed.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
